by Michael Gordon

Conceived for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden by composer Michael Gordon as a site-specific outdoor sound installation, loved. is a poignant and meditative tribute to the memory of those we've recently lost during the pandemic.

This digital EP contains two versions of the piece, which was originally written for seven vibraphones — one performed by percussionist David Cossin (Bang on a Can All-Stars) on vibraphones, and the other by Al Cerulo (Mantra Percussion) on a metal pipe instrument created by Miguel Bolivar.

released March 12, 2021

Vibraphones, recording, mixing, mastering by David Cossin at David Cossin’s Studio [track 1].

Produced and performed by Al Cerulo and mastered by Traxler Studios (NYC) [track 2].

Michael Gordon New York, New York

Michael Gordon's music merges subtle rhythmic invention with incredible power embodying, in the words of The New Yorker's Alex Ross, "the fury of punk rock, the nervous brilliance of free jazz and the intransigence of classical modernism."
